South Western Railway has apologised to customers as a combination of engineering work and lack of bus services is set to cause travel disruption this weekend.

Several coaches were vandalised at Southampton Airport Parkway on Saturday, meaning there are fewer vehicles available in the area until the coaches are repaired.

With planned engineering work taking place in the city this weekend, SWR apologised to customers and said that journeys might take longer than planned, with a lack of replacement services.

Informing followers on X, a spokesperson for SWR said: “Due to reduced availability of buses, we are unable to provide full rail replacement bus service coverage this weekend in the Southampton area.

“If you intend to travel this weekend (October 5 and 6), please allow extra time to complete your journey.

“There may be large gaps between bus services, meaning your journey may take longer than planned.

“We’re very sorry for the disruption.”
