From pumpkins to steam trains, via a touch of ballet, there's so much to do in and around Southampton this weekend.

Here's our pick of five of the best things to do to keep all the family entertained on Saturday and Sunday (October 5 and 6).

At Sunnyfields Farm...

It's pumpkin time again!

Be immersed in a pumpkin experience and embrace the best that autumn has to offer at Sunnyfields Farm in Marchwood from Saturday.

The farm will be covered in thousands of pumpkins until Halloween.

Enjoy photo opportunities, WOW displays and pumpkin picking, plus so much more.

In Carlton Place...

Located around the corner from Bedford Place – known for its night-time economy – Carlton Place has opened a new monthly market which is open to the public on the first Saturday of every month from 10am to 4pm.

The market provides an array of independent businesses the chance to promote their products – including food, crafts, and candles.

Emma and André Moreira, owners of Gaia Health Store, have spearheaded the project on their doorstep.

At Southampton Civic Centre...

(Image: Newsquest) Climb all 215 steps and discover the incredible story of the tower's construction as well as gaining unparalleled views of the city and be close to the bell chamber when it rings out the midday rendition of 'O God, Our Help in Ages Past' when you take part in a guided tour of the Civic Centre clock tower.

Regular clock tower tours take place with members of SeaCity's learning team who join visitors to ascend the Civic Centre's iconic clock tower. The next one departs on Saturday at 10.15am.

At Mayflower Theatre...

(Image: Tristram Kenton) It's your last chance to see Northern Ballet's version of Romeo & Juliet, which runs until Saturday.

In the ultimate tale of forbidden love, two young people risk everything to be together.

Adapted by Christopher Gable and Massimo Moricone, Romeo & Juliet is one of Northern Ballet’s most beloved and critically acclaimed productions. Every leap, every turn, every heartbeat breathes new life into Shakespeare’s masterpiece and invites you to rediscover the iconic love story like it’s the very first time.

With glorious dancers, eye-catching sets and Prokofiev’s timeless music this is ballet at its most dramatic, romantic and intense.

On the Watercress Line...

A three-day 'steam' packed autumn spectacular takes over the line this weekend.

See a mix of engines that would once have pulled the variety of trains seen on the railways.

The autumn steam gala event is a chance to enjoy unlimited rides behind a range of visiting locomotives as well as home-fleet locomotives, running on an enhanced timetable.

Explore heritage stations along the 10-mile line, get up close to locomotives, experience Brake Van rides, find out more about restoration projects and enjoy talks and various exhibits.
