The charge came as officers from the Millbrook and Redbridge Neighbourhood Policing team carried out targeted patrols in Shirley on Thursday, October 4.
This formed part of Hampshire Constabulary's Operation Gatewatch, which targets shoplifting and anti-social behaviour in the area.
Beyene is next due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on Friday, April 11 2025.
