Here are three businesses in and around Southampton that sadly shut their doors in September.

Black Axe Throwing Co

Black Axe Throwing Co Southampton announced on September 5 that it closed its site, in what staff described as a “huge shock”.

The venue first opened in April 2023 as the chain's fifth UK site.

The reason for the closure is unknown but the chain's other venues in Margate and Lancaster appear to still be trading.

It follows the sudden closure of its Edinburgh site in November 2023.

The INJOY Centre

The indoor adventure park in Ocean Village suddenly closed its doors, much to the shock and disappointment of parents and their children.

Bosses at the centre later confirmed the company had gone into liquidation.

They said: “We want to take this moment to express our heartfelt thanks to our customers for their support over the years.

“For those who are owed money or have outstanding bookings, we have passed all relevant customer details to our appointed liquidator.

“They will be in contact to provide further information and assist with any queries related to refunds or credits.”

Opening on July 12, 2019 in a former cinema, the centre cost £3million to build and also featured restaurants and a bar for parents.

Café Velo

The wheels stopped turning for New Forest cycling hotspot, Café Velo.

The café – which was recognised for being the best in England – was founded in Easter 2018 by Peter Moore and Vicky Richards.

But on September 6 the owners announced the cafe closed after more than six years.

The café did not only provide food and drink, but a maintenance workshop too, which took on everything from gear and brake tweaks to rebuilds and even custom-built bikes.
