TGI Fridays in Southampton has closed following 35 restaurants in the chain closing across the country.
The TGI Fridays restaurant in Westquay South – situated below Showcase Cinema de Lux – has been shut immediately after the American-themed chain fell into administration last month, resulting in more than 1,000 redundancies across the UK.
However, a rescue deal for 51 restaurants acquired by new owners Breal Capital and Calveton UK, has seen the saviour of TGI’s restaurants in West Quay Retail Park and Fareham.

The new owners are said to be looking forward to modernising the business that first launched in New York in 1965.
Former owners of the popular restaurant chain, Hostmore, appointed joint administrators from Teneo in September after initial plans to sell the franchise for £177m to US-based TGI Fridays Inc. fell through.
