A logistics company has opened a new centre in Chandler's Ford to improve freight handling.
Acclaim Logistics has announced the opening of a new 16,000 square foot receiving centre, aiming to improve service for customers on the Isle of Wight.
The facility will act as a hub for processing and dispatching goods to the island.
The firm said the new centre is a response to "growing demand".
Speaking at the launch of the new facility, Chris Aldridge, sales director at Acclaim Logistics, said: "This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to protecting and enhancing the services we offer to the Island.
"The opening of this new receiving centre is a crucial step, and we're excited to strengthen our efforts in connecting our Isle of Wight customers to the mainland. We remain dedicated to delivering reliable and improved services to Island businesses and residents."
The centre represents a significant investment in the region’s freight infrastructure, according to the company.
The new site will now serve as a dedicated receiving and processing centre to streamline the flow of freight to the Isle of Wight.
This, the company said, will ensure faster, more reliable deliveries.
The expansion comes as the company has seen freight volumes to the island steadily increase.
Acclaim Logistics said that by establishing a dedicated centre, it is not only meeting the needs of its current customers but also preparing for further growth.
The opening of the Chandler’s Ford centre is part of the company's broader strategy to enhance its position as a leading freight provider for the Isle of Wight, it said.
