Hampshire police has issued an update in the search for a missing man after helicopters were seen circling the River Itchen for nearly twelve hours overnight.
Police and coastguard helicopters, as well as lifeboat crews, were dispatched to find a missing man near the Itchen Bridge.
The alarm was raised at 11.20pm on Sunday night.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 8, a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “The man remains missing, and the search continues.”

Hampshire police is yet to release any information regarding the last known whereabouts of the missing person or regarding his identity.
Officers continued their search on Monday after helicopters from Lee-on-Solent and St Athan in Wales conducted an aerial search.
It comes after the coastguard confirmed Calshot and Cowes RNLI lifeboats, Hamble lifeboat, Portsmouth, Hill Head and Lymington Coastguard Rescue Teams, and South Central Ambulance Service teams helped police in their search on Monday morning.
