Police have arrested a sixth man and seized a seventh car following an illegal car meet last month.

The huge group of cars met in Winchester late on Saturday, September 21 and moved on to Southampton, Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford and Fareham, before finally gathering at Southsea seafront shortly after midnight.

It was likened to something out of The Fast and The Furious film franchise.

Hampshire Constabulary has today revealed that they have made another arrest in connection with the incident.

A 29-year-old man from Dursley in Gloucestershire was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving on Wednesday, October 9.

He is the sixth person arrested and has been bailed while the investigation continues.

A Land Rover Discovery has also been seized as part of officers' enquiries.

Chief Superintendent Darren O'Callaghan said: "We have been clear we will pursue anyone believed to be engaging in dangerous driving at car meets, and remove their vehicle from the road.

"Our teams continue to work hard to identify possible offenders and deal with them.

"If you don't want us knocking on your door, do not engage in dangerous driving at these events, putting other people attending, the public and yourself at risk.

"As part of our ongoing work, we also want to engage with these groups where we can, helping to educate and ensure car enthusiasts are able to share their passion with each other without dangerous behaviour or having a severely detrimental impact on the lives of our communities."

As part of the police investigation, officers are appealing to anyone with information or footage of the car meet to get in touch.

This can be done by either calling 101 or visiting the Hampshire Constabulary website and quoting the reference 44240406801.
