A New Forest man said he’s “running out of energy” after getting married on national television.

Caspar Todd, a 34-year-old gardener on a private estate in the New Forest married Emma Barnes, a 31-year-old investment sales manager from Bristol on the E4 programme, Married at First Sight UK.

The reality TV show sees singletons paired together and quite literally married at first sight, before seeing if they’re able to make the relationship work in their day-to-day life.

After tying the knot, the pair honeymooned in Jamaica, but things soon turned sour after Caspar confessed to Emma that he didn’t find her attractive and that he rarely dates the “curvier person”.

Over the course of the series the couple have struggled to embrace their match despite vowing to continue with the process – that can see couples split and leave the show at any time.

In Thursday's episode, Caspar questioned his wife’s behaviour during their marriage, stating it had been an issue during their relationship.

He said: “I don’t think Emma currently has the ability to open up and consider how she behaves.

“It’s an issue for any relationship she’s in – it can’t all be my fault.”

During a couple’s dinner featuring all of the contestants on the show, Caspar told Emma that he wanted to see more of her fragility during their troubled romance.

After being shut down by his wife – who said she was more independent and positive – Caspar vacated the room unannounced before saying: “I said my truth and she said it’s not happening.

“I feel like I’m the one being asked to make all the changes.

“I’m here to learn and grow but Emma hasn’t taken on board any of the changes she’s been asked to make. I’m running out of energy for it.”
