A popular tuk tuk-based coffee business has put down roots after its owners officially opened the doors to their brand new café.

Business partners Alec Smith and Suzanne Williams, owners of Partners in Coffee, are best known for serving great coffee from a tuk tuk outside the White Building in Southampton.

But they've taken their independent venture to new heights after opening a new coffee shop serving local produce and hosting community events.

Alec, who lives in Park Gate, said that it had been a bumpy ride before coming to Boorley Green, as the business weathered the storm of the pandemic.

The 44-year-old said: “We promise to bring the Boorley Green community good quality coffee, local produce and a community space to be used.

“Partners in Coffee is all about the connection between our team, local suppliers and our customers.

“It’s been quite a tough journey over the past four years – Suzanne has worked so hard and we have had to really stick with it.

Crowds gathered to watch the official ribbon cutting on Saturday, and the queue for coffee reached out the door and onto the pavement.

The space will also be available to hire for functions, host community events and will act as place for people to work or relax.

“There is the potential of looking at getting a licence so we can sell some locally sourced bottles and wines in the evening.

“We would also like to get a piano in for some live music and do some open mic events or quiz night evenings – I think the possibilities are endless.”
