Days of closures on the M27 are due to start tonight.

Motorists have been reminded of several overnight slip roads closures on the M27 eastbound, near Southampton, which get underway from this evening (October 15).

The entry and exit slip roads at junction five will be closed between 9pm and 6am until October 19, as well as the junction seven entry slip road and the junction eight exit slip road.

Closures will take place every evening until Friday.

The junction seven exit slip road will close at 9pm this evening and not reopen until 6am on Saturday.

The works are being completed as part of “phase 2b” of £83 million worth of road works that began in February 2024 and are expected to finish in Spring 2026.

National Highways are laying 180mm of low noise surface asphalt as part of a Government scheme to replace almost half of the concrete motorway or major A-road roads across England.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “Drivers travelling on the eastbound carriageway will not be able to exit at junctions 5, 7, or 8 if travelling in the contraflow lane.

“Moving barriers along the road will be noisy at times, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this may cause.”
