Christmas characters and live musicians will parade the streets around the city centre, keeping families entertained.
From 6pm and 9pm on the Friday night, and the following night, the areas of Carlton Place and Oxford Street will also come alive with some festive fun.
Southampton said: "Every year people flock to Southampton for our Christmas celebrations. Whether they are here for the Christmas lights switch on, or want to meet one of their favourite costume characters, we’re hoping that there’s something for everyone across the three days.
Stephen Manion, executive director at GO!"We’ve moved the main event from Thursday to Friday in hope that people will be able to stay out for longer and enjoy what’s on offer in the evening across the city."
Events, live music and activities will take place across the city centre on Saturday and Sunday - from Oxford Street to Guildhall Square with plenty to do for families and children. And the best part, it’s all completely free.
Stephen Manion added: "We can’t wait to reveal the full programme as we’re very excited for our Christmas offering. It’s always a highlight in the city centre calendar."
The Daily Echo will publish the full programme of events as soon as they are available.
GO! Southampton is part funding the programme of events, alongside sponsor Brackenwood Windows.
