A lorry driver unexpectedly caused traffic to come to a halt this morning after getting stuck at a tight bend outside a popular activities centre.
The narrow stretch of road on Woodmill Lane is located where cars cross Woodmill Bridge – directly outside Woodmill Outdoor Activities Centre – with a three-car rule and part-time traffic lights in place in order to allow motorists to pass through the road safely and easing congestion.
But there was disruption on Tuesday morning after a car transporter became wedged trying to navigate the pinchpoint.
Traffic stopped for around 20 minutes before the vehicle was able to reverse out of the space.
John Borg, 31, was walking by Riverside Park when he saw traffic backed up along the road.

Speaking to“Maybe the lorry driver is unfamiliar with the area and obviously got himself stuck.”
Given the nature of the road, John said he’s surprised there isn’t a sign to inform drivers the width of the road.
He added: “It’s not the first time a vehicle has got stuck and there have been accidents over the years.
“I’m glad it was nothing more serious.”
