A passenger allegedly spat at a bus driver after being told he was not allowed to get on with his bike.

Police have released a CCTV image as they investigate the incident, which happened on the Bluestar U1A bus on The Avenue, near the junction with Lodge Road.

It happened at around 1.15pm on Saturday, August 24.

Hampshire Constabulary said the driver told the man he was not allowed on the bus with his push bike.

Then it is alleged that the man spat at the bus driver before leaving.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak in connection with the incident.

He is described as white, aged between 25 and 40, about 6ft tall, large build and bald head. 

Police said the man was wearing a black Nike windbreaker jacket with a white zip and black tracksuit bottoms.

A police spokesperson said: "Do you recognise this man we would like to speak to?

"If anyone knows who this man is, or has any information regarding this incident, please contact us.
