Hampshire Fire and Rescue officers forced entry to a flat in Hedge End today after residents reported smelling burning in the block.
Firefighters from Eastleigh and Hightown rush to a first-floor flat on White's Way after residents said they could smell burning.
An alarm had also sounded in one of the flats.
Upon gaining entry, the firefighters conducted a thorough investigation but found no sign of a fire.
The alarm had been triggered by an iron left on.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the item was removed, and the scene was made safe.

Following the incident, crews conducted home fire safety visits and distributed community safety materials to neighbouring properties.
A spokesperson for the HFRS said urged residents to unplug appliances when not in use, to check smoke alarms regularly, and not to overload electrical sockets.
