A new restaurant has opened on the outskirts of Southampton promising to give residents a fine dining experience like never before.

Set at the stunning 17th century New Place Hotel in Shedfield, Harley’s is set to offer Southampton residents an alternative classy fine dining experience with a three-course meal.

The hotel restaurant boasts an all-new menu and food and beverage manager, Nick Brewster, and his executive chef, Simon Hartnett, are looking to bring a fresh experience to diners.

They also want to welcome locals, saying the restaurant is not just for hotel guests.

“One of the ways we are doing this is by having our beef wellington carved up on a tray at the table – bring a bit of flare to people’s meal.

“You don’t need to be a food critic to enjoy the fantastic dishes we have on offer.”

The New Place Hotel is a country manor house steeped in history – the restaurant has been named after a former owner, Patrick Harley, who turned the house into a boarding school in the 1950s.

Executive chef Simon added: “For me, I think everyone should have a chance to try the beef wellington, cut and severed by waiting staff at the table.

“It’s got a real wow factor and gives local people a fine dining experience that we feel has been lost in modern times.”

The new restaurant is also offering a twist to all of its deserts by serving its fresh honey which is made at the hotel grounds.

“Our waiting staff drizzle the honey over the deserts at the table and we explain a little about the making process of the honey while it is being served.”

Harley’s dessert menu includes: rum roasted pineapple, banana bread madeleine and the Hampshire cheeseboard, which can even be enjoyed with a range of dessert wines to choose from.
