A food delivery driver has said he “dreads” coming to Southampton for work after a week plagued with roadworks and congestion.
Amazon Flex courier Trevor Allen, 61, delivers food and other parcels in Hampshire covering most of the county in his shifts.
But Trevor has hit out a congestion in Southampton as chaos continues while M27 slip roads are closed for resurfacing, telling the Daily Echo that he hates finishing his shift in the city.
“It’s come to a point where I dread finishing work in Southampton after 3pm,” Trevor said.

“I usually finish around the Hill Lane area, and one you get to the A335, you just sit in that and it moves inches.
“The first day there was no reason for it to be so slow [other than the road works], but the left hand lane was solid and the right hand lane was barely moving.”
After his shifts finish, Trevor must drive back home to Gosport – a journey that usually takes him 45 minutes.
“Wednesday it took two and a half hours, Tuesday it was 90 minutes,” Trevor said.
“When I’m working, they usually give us 23 minutes in between deliveries, to leave the place and get to the next one.”
Trevor has racked his brain to find alternative routes, but gave up after trying to flee Hill Lane in any direction.
Trevor said: “It’s not like you can just turn around and go the other way because the way towards Northam was locked solid too.

“There’s the temptation to go another way, but there is just no point in even trying to find another way.”
Deliveries elsewhere saw Trevor finish in Portsmouth on his last shift, so he managed to avoid the two-hour commute after work.
“I just really dread Southampton now,” Trevor said.
“The Hill Lane area is always congested anyway.”
The M27 slip road closures have now concluded after four days of congestion chaos across the city.
