Dame Caroline Dinenage has joined a group of MPs committed to addressing issues surrounding flooding.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Flooding held its inaugural meeting of the new Parliament in Westminster on Wednesday, during Flood Action Week.
It is committed to addressing broad issues around flooding such as access to insurance, sustainable development in flood risk areas, and the future of the Flood Re scheme.
Dame Caroline, MP for Gosport, Lee-on-the-Solent, Stubbington, and Hill Head, said: "Due to the effects of climate change, there are areas of the Gosport constituency that will experience ever more frequent flood events over the coming years if the right action is not taken.
"I have joined the Flooding APPG to help shape recommendations that will help ministers’ thinking in this area."
She also recently chaired a meeting of stakeholders in the Alverstoke Flood Defence scheme to establish next steps.
