The Itchen Bridge has been closed due to concerns for the welfare of a woman.
Police attended shortly after 5.46am this morning after reports of concern for a woman on the bridge.
The road was closed just before 6am with drivers told to use alternative routes.
The woman was brought to safety.
At around 6.15am the bridge reopened again but with lane restrictions in place.
It reopened fully just after 6.30am with the council's highways team thanking motorists for their patience.
