A Southampton woman has won a national photography competition.
Gaye Kenny's photo of a puffin and a rabbit sunbathing on Skomer Island, Pembrokeshire, won the 'most incredible nature encounter' category in the Camping and Caravanning Club’s Picture the Moment competition.
The competition, held over the summer, invited amateur photographers from across the UK to submit photos in three categories: most incredible campsite view, most incredible family time, and most incredible nature encounter.
Winners, including Ms Kenny, were presented with their prizes at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC in Birmingham on October 18.
Hamza said: "I really loved the entries to the competition because the photos featured wildlife, camping and people spending quality time with their families. The photos kind of give you a little flavour of what our campsites have to offer, if not on the campsite then around the campsite.
"It was wonderful to see stunning landscapes and wildlife captured in the photos, including a photo of a red deer taken by Cayden, aged ten - if I’d taken a photo like that at his age I’d be over the moon.
"Well done Gaye. I hope you enjoy your prizes."
Gaye said: "We were staying in Pembrokeshire for two weeks in May and we went over to Skomer and we had the most perfect day. It’s just like being in puffin heaven and it was just magical - we saw the most amazing number of puffins, including the encounter with the rabbits. We’re hoping to get back next July when the pufflings are there.
"My passion is birds and I carry my camera everywhere. I really admire Hamza and reading his books it’s just how I feel about nature and wildlife."
Richard Walters, the club’s director of marketing and communications, said: "We're thrilled to highlight the winning photographs from our Picture the Moment competition at the Motorhome & Caravan Show today. These images showcase the simple joys and peaceful moments that campers have captured in the incredible outdoors."
All winners and runners-up took home prizes worth more than £5,000, including vouchers for Camping and Caravanning Club sites and Love2Visit.
