A stash of power tools including a chainsaw were found hidden away by police.
Officers were called to reports of two men on push bikes acting suspiciously in and around Forton Road and Mill Lane at 3am.
When officers arrived at the scene, several Stihl and Dewalt tools were found.
These tools “appeared to have been stashed” by the two men.
Police are now keen to return the suspected stolen items to their owners.

A spokesperson said: “We’re not convinced that many legitimate builders leave their tools hidden in woodland for safe keeping overnight and, unfortunately, it is more likely that these have been taken from someone’s van or shed.
“If you recognise any of the tools in the picture, please contact us via 101 or online quoting reference number 44240463702 and we will do our best to get them back to you.
“You will need to provide either a serial number or other identifiable feature so that we are confident that they are being returned to their rightful owner.”
