Planes circled above Southampton Airport yesterday and some flights were delayed for more than two hours – this is why.
KLM, easyJet, and Aer Lingus flights were all halted at Southampton Airport yesterday, October 23, and the reason behind the delays was initially unclear.
Planes that were due to land circled the airspace above the airport while flights on the ground saw a much delayed take off, to the annoyance of passengers.
One Aurigny flight was due to arrive at 7.40am but did not land until 10.10am.

The airport has now shared the reasons behind the delays with it being revealed that bad weather conditions and fog were the root cause of the issue.
Decisions to delay or cancel a service is taken directly by the airline and many felt it was safer to halt services until the poor weather had passed.
Today, flights from the airport are running to schedule as planned.
