A teenager has recalled the shock of his aunt’s house shaking after a car crashed into a telegraph pole on Woodmill Lane.
At around 3.30am on Saturday a car collided with a telegraph pole on Woodmill Lane, shifting the pole by approximately one metre in the ground, and leaving residents without internet.
Faeyln Coyle, 19, from the Isle of Wight was visiting his aunt in Southampton when the crash occurred.
Speaking to the Echo, Faeyln said the house shook as the car crashed outside his aunt’s home, narrowly avoiding a pedestrian on the pavement.

Faeyln said: “I was inside the house, and I heard a crash, all of a sudden, the house shook.
“I quickly put on my flipflops and rushed outside – as I could see some blinking lights through the window.
“The driver’s side of the car bonnet had completely folded in, and the telegraph pole had come out of the ground and was being held by the wiring above.
“The driver seemed relatively unscathed and just walked off."
Faeyln said a pedestrian narrowly avoided being hit by the car during the incident.
He added: “There was a man in his late twenties who said he only just avoided being hit by the car.
“The police were at the scene really quickly – there were sniffer dogs there within about 15 minutes – I don’t know if they were able to find the driver.”
The Echo has contacted Hampshire Constabulary for a comment.
