A bus hub in Southampton city centre is set to reopen next month, following ten months of works.
The Albion Place bus hub will finally open on Monday, November 4, for buses and passengers – with the neighbouring gardens set to be unveiled later in the month.
Formerly Castle Way car park, construction work began in January 2024 to enhance the city’s transport network, offering increased provision to bus services for commuters and visitors to Southampton.
When complete, the new bus hub will also include a brand-new green space, the first new green space in the city centre for 60 years.
Located next to the city’s historic walls, new footways and islands have been installed as part of the new and improved bus hub.
Cllr Eamonn Keogh, cabinet member for environment and transport, said the bus hub will feature waiting facilities and travel information, with an emphasis on passenger safety through improved lighting and CCTV.

Cllr Keogh said: “The aim of the scheme is to create a better-connected transport network and to offer people more travel options, whether that is driving, taking the bus, cycling, scooting, or walking.
“This scheme is pivotal for the future of Southampton to maintain its appeal to local people and visitors.
“We want to create a better-connected transport network and to offer people more travel options.”
He added: “The bus hub will support a better bus provision for both residents and visitors, as well as a choice of transport options, so that journeys will become easier for all road users.”
The Albion Place bus hub will also feature new public seating and access to e-scooter hire.
Speaking prior to the construction of the Albion Place bus hub, Cllr Keogh said: “I can assure everyone that it will be worth waiting for when they see the result of this landmark construction.”
