The first flights to an ‘exciting’ new winter destination departed from Southampton Airport.
Flights to Amsterdam with easyJet started yesterday, with departures between the two cities occurring on Mondays and Fridays.
The new journey has been described as “ideal” for those seeking a winter city break getaway to “one of Europe’s most popular destinations.”
Gavin Williams, managing director of Southampton Airport, said: “We are delighted easyJet saw to expand its offering at Southampton Airport and it was great to see the service to Amsterdam start flying.
“This flight will provide passengers with more travel options and reaffirms our commitment to improving regional connectivity for the central south.”

The latest announcement by easyJet follows the announcement that it will extend its popular Alicante service into the winter season.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, said: “Our fantastic new service from Southampton to Amsterdam will provide our customers in the South of England with even more options to discover one of Europe’s most popular cities this winter and we can’t wait to welcome them onboard.”
The airline’s new route to Amsterdam, along with its other routes from Southampton, can be booked direct via its app or online.
