A council had said its website is one of a number of local authorities to suffer a cyber attack this evening.
Portsmouth City Council informed followers on X – formerly known as Twitter – that the local authority had fallen victim to a cyber attack on Friday, November 1, and users would not be able to access the council’s website.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Portsmouth City Council said: “We can confirm our website is part of a UK-wide cyber attack, meaning users will have problems accessing the site.
“We apologise for any inconvenience, but you can still find our online services at my.portsmouth.gov.uk/MyServices.”
Southampton City Council, New Forest Borough Council, Eastleigh Borough Council, and Fareham Borough Council all appeared to be unaffected by the cyber attack.
