Romsey Rugby Club has raised £200 for the Royal Marines Charity (RMA) at a pre-match luncheon.

The event on Saturday, October 26 was attended by many supporters and included a two-course meal, a presentation by the RMA, and a raffle.

Timed to honour the founding anniversary of the Royal Marines, the luncheon also marked the beginning of Romsey Rugby Club’s remembrance period.

It further strengthened the club’s relationship with the Test Valley branch of the RMA.

The club’s president, John Gray, received a commemorative framed picture from Barry Light of the RMA, featuring the motto, "United We Conquer."

The motto was a tribute to the shared values of teamwork and resilience.

Sara and Paul Hodges donated a hamper for the raffle, while John and Cerrie Gray contributed prizes and helped set up the event.

Junior team players from Romsey Rugby Club served as staff for the luncheon, showcasing the club’s dedication to involving all its members in activities.

The event is the first in what the club hopes will be a series of community luncheons.

These will be open to club members, RMA members, and local supporters.

More information about future events can be found on the club’s website, romseyrugby.club.
