Temporary CCTV cameras have been spotted at the site of roadworks on a busy Southampton road.
Repairs that will last seven weeks have started at Civic Centre Junction after the traffic lights failed, where Southampton City Council’s contractor Balfour Beatty will be replacing electric systems and underground cables.

Two temporary cameras are in place at each end of the fenced area being worked on at the two centre lanes of Havelock Road, with the council confirming that they are there partly for driver and worker safety.
A spokesperson for the council said: “As well as for safety reasons, our highways partner, Balfour Beatty, has installed the CCTV equipment at Civic Centre Junction to assess traffic flow, monitor the effectiveness of the current temporary traffic lights and allow them to relay any necessary adjustments to their construction workers on site.”
Bus stops on Civic Centre Road are being temporarily relocated to Above Bar Street.
