A man has been charged after allegedly attacking a member of staff at a popular supermarket in Southampton.
Police say that at 7.40am on Tuesday that a man had entered Sainsbury's on Portswood Road and had attempted to steal various drinks.
When workers challenged the man, he is said to have become verbally abusive and assaulted a male member of staff in his 20s.
The Sainsbury’s worker was left with minor injuries to his head.

The force has now confirmed it has charged Jobie Michael Cross with theft, common assault, racially/religiously aggravated fear/provocation of violence by words/writing and using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress.
The 24-year-old, of no fixed abode was due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court today.
