A Southampton university will mark Armistice Day with remembrance activities.
Solent University is involving students, staff, and the campus in commemorating Armistice Day on November 11.
The Warsash Maritime School, part of the university, has a long history of training cadets and officers, including overseas allies, during World War Two.
Two cadets from the school, Seren Nix and Sam Ellison, represented the university at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on November 9.
The university will host a ceremony on Monday, November 11, in the Spark building on its East Park Terrace campus.
The service will be led by Solent's Spirituality and Reflection team, assisted by Warsash staff and members of the Students’ Union.
Jim Irving, pro-vice chancellor for students and governance, will also represent the university at the remembrance ceremony hosted by Southampton City Council in Watts Park today.
Cadets from the Maritime School will join him, and the school is also dispatching representatives to the remembrance event in Warsash itself.
Vice-chancellor of Southampton Solent University, professor James Knowles, said: "The role of a university incorporates more than simply education and research, we must ensure that our staff and students are aware of their surroundings and their heritage.
"This is why it’s incredibly important that we mark Armistice Day, sharing the key message of remembrance and a commitment not to forget the sacrifice that so many have made.
"Sam and Seren embody our key values of integrity, teamwork and inclusivity and I’m incredibly proud to have them represent Solent at such a prestigious event."
The cadets, who have both recently returned from the sea phase of their courses, were selected for their "outstanding contributions" to their studies.
Seren is working towards a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Marine Engineering, sponsored by Carnival UK, while Sam is studying for his HND in Nautical Science, sponsored by Sentinel through Clyde Marine Training.
The Festival of Remembrance, attended by the Royal Family, will include personal testimonies, storytelling, and musical performances to honour serving personnel, veterans, and their families.
