The roast dinner is a classic British dish that many enjoy going out for, with many establishments around the Southampton area offering a quality version of it.

However, due to the stacked choices around the city and surrounding neighbourhoods, it might be tricky to pick out one to go to.

Therefore, we thought it might be best to ask our readers for their recommendations.

We put out a Facebook post asking the question and here are the responses we received.

Best spots for a Sunday roast around the Southampton area

At the time of writing almost 400 comments have been left on the Facebook post, with a huge amount of establishments recommended.

A fair few did stick out though with their number of mentions, including The Dancing Man Brewery at the Town Quay.

Meanwhile, a few picked out The Cricketers as their favourite, as one person wrote: "The Cricketers at Carlton Place, especially the braised lamb shank".

It's another spot that has also been commended overall by diners, with it having earned a 4.5/5 score on Tripadvisor from 138 reviews.

A few other places that got multiple mentions included The Red Lion pub in the city centre, Ennios by the Town Quay, The Scholars Arms on Above Bar Street and The Muni Bar & Restaurant at the golf course.

Additionally, Figurati was also a fairly popular choice, with one person writing: "Figurati Southampton best roast in the city! (Aside from my house)".

Finally, the establishment that was by far mentioned the most by readers was The Victory Inn in Hamble.
