Shirley residents are excited by the news that a popular cake chain will be opening a shop on the high street.
Cake Box bake egg free desserts and are well-known for their fresh cream cakes, waffles and cheesecakes.
The Halal-friendly shop already operates two local shops, one in the city centre on East Street and one in Eastleigh.
Facebook commenter Kylie Rushby said: "Myself and my partner believe that the Cakebox will be good addition to the high street as there are not many cake shops locally.

"We are also hoping they make cakes so we will be looking at this for the children’s birthdays. We are hoping that they do competitive prices."
Cake Box opened their first store in East London in 2008, and the chain now has over 230 locations across the UK.
The company could not confirm when the Shirley store will launch, but have already published opening times on their website, saying that the shop will be open 10am to 7pm.
