PLANS for a house extension in Romsey have been approved by planning chiefs.

Matthew Campbell, of Tadburn Road, proposed adding a single-storey rear extension and a first-floor side extension to his home. The application also asked for permission for a loft conversion with a dormer window.

The application had previously been submitted, with the resubmission including amended plans for the design of the roof.

The application was approved at the Test Valley Borough Council Southern Area Planning Committee on Tuesday, November 5.

Cllr Celia Dowden said: “In having seen the photo of a similar extension, I think it could be the right thing to bring it to committee. I think it is a huge improvement to what might have been a solid block.”

Cllr John Parker said: “I was going to say the same thing. The design that we have in front of us now is certainly preferable to the block-style extension. It is a good design that works well in the street scene while also working with what the residents want. I am happy to support it.”

There were no comments at committee from members of the public regarding this application.
