Southampton's largest early years care provider, Paint Pots Preschool & Nursery, has recently achieved charitable status.

This is a notable change for a large group of nurseries, as it means all fee income will be reinvested into local nurseries and communities, enhancing the service for children.

Many nurseries and preschools operate in disadvantaged areas, but the charity pledges to maintain equal education quality and experience across all settings.

Executive Director, Canon Nick Ralph said: "We are delighted that the work we do has been accepted as being worthy of charitable status. This makes clear our ongoing commitment to the early years’ sector and we look forward to working with partners to develop aspects of our work further that support those in the greatest need."

The transition to charity status required thorough governance review by the Charity Commission.

Paint Pots now operates as an independent charity linked to the Church of England Diocese of Winchester, welcoming all children.
