A New Forest councillor has told of his shock after spotting a cow wandering the streets of Totton this morning.
At around 10.30 this morning residents in Totton were alarmed after spotting a cow wandering the streets around the Library Road area.
New Forest councillor, David Harrison, was one of the residents who had an encounter with the bovine animal, and quickly called emergency services.

He said: "[I] just met a cow loose in the centre of Totton and called the emergency services.
"It really was quite a shock - I had to do a double take when I first saw the cow.
"The cow walked quite casually past me and towards a lady going into the health centre.
"I shouted across to her and she was able to move out of the way as the cow went past."
A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: "We received a report of a cow on the loose shortly before 11am today.
"Officers attended and ensured the containment of the cow.
"Contact has since been made with the owner and arrangements are being made to reunite the cow with the owner."
