A Britain's Got Talent winner will be heading to Southampton as the headline act at the city's free Christmas lights switch-on event on Friday.
Sydnie Christmas, who won the talent show earlier this year, will perform festive favourites as well as songs she performed on BGT such as My Way, Tomorrow and Over the Rainbow, at the free Bargate mainstage.
Sydnie is a former cruise ship worker who would depart on ships leaving the city, and is looking forward to return to her former stomping ground.
She said: “I was lucky to get a day spent there when we docked. It was pretty random.
“It was a great place with great shopping, I loved it."

Sydnie, from Gravesend in northwest Kent, became an overnight sensation when she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent while she was working front of house at a gym.
She got through to the semi-finals after performing a cover of ‘Tomorrow’ from Annie and got the golden buzzer from judge Amanda Holden.
When asked if she was looking forward to performing, she said: “Absolutely, I’m well excited, and I’ll get to sing quite a few songs.
“I’m going to be singing a couple of the BGT ones, and then there’s a couple on the album and a couple that aren’t on the album.
“They are fun covers to do, and I think the audience will like them”.

Speaking about her time on the show, Sydnie added: “It was such an amazing experience, I loved it, and it was very frightening.
“I don’t know if people say anxiety is amazing, but it was.
“Since the show, I’ve made an album which is really cool, I’ve done events, and live gigs which is amazing and very different to what I’m used to.
“I have kept in touch with Amanda and went for dinner with Amanda and Bruno around two weeks ago in LA.
“I’ve come back from LA, as I performed at the Hollywood Bowl which was a life-changing experience."
Sydnie will be spending Christmas in a Panto in Dartford, where she is playing Fairy Christmas in a production of Sleeping Beauty.
“I think they made a role for me," she said.
The event is organised by GO! Southampton. Performances from various acts will take place from 6–8 pm. The lights are scheduled to be switched on just before 8 pm.
The Christmas market will run until Sunday, January 5, 2025.
