A new eco-friendly apartment development has opened in Eastleigh town centre.

Postmark Place, developed by Eastleigh Borough Council’s agency Eastbrooke Homes, officially opened this week with most of its 28 units having already been rented.

Leader of Eastleigh Borough Council, councillor Keith House said: "Postmark Place is a great example of the council addressing the housing crisis by building homes where they are most needed and creating high-quality, sustainable properties where people are happy to live.

"Postmark Place will also add to the vibrancy of Eastleigh town centre and I’m sure that its residents will take advantage of the many amenities it offers."

The apartments, located on the former High Street post office site, include 10 set aside for social housing.

These are the first of their kind for the council in almost 25 years and are already fully occupied.

The flats have heat recovery systems for fresh air, rooftop solar panels, a secure bike store and a high energy performance rating.

The development was opened by Eastleigh’s deputy mayor.
