RINGWOOD School welcomed a renowned speaker and former anti-apartheid activist last week.
Chris Lubbe visited the school on Friday, November 8 to give a “powerful and moving” presentation delivered to all year groups.
He shared his personal journey and reflections on his experiences working closely with Nelson Mandela and other pivotal figures in the South African liberation movement.
Speaking to students of all ages, Chris recounted his life story—from his childhood experiences in apartheid-era South Africa to his eventual role as Mandela’s bodyguard and confidant.
His visit was a unique opportunity for students to learn about the challenges and injustices of apartheid and to understand the importance of courage, integrity and forgiveness in the face of adversity.
Headteacher Leanne Symonds said: “Having Chris at Ringwood School has been an invaluable experience for our students.
“His story reminds us of the power of kindness, resilience, and unity in a world that sometimes seems divided.
“We are grateful to Chris for sharing his journey with us and for encouraging our students to be brave in the pursuit of realising their dreams and aspirations".
