A school evacuated last week after a potentially explosive device was brought in to show and tell has been forced to close today (November 18) after a gas leak.
Orchard Junior School in Dibden Purlieu was evacuated on Friday after a student took in an object which was described by the school as a ‘historic incendiary device.’
Police attended and the device was destroyed as a precaution.
But today, the school is shut due to a gas leak on site.

A statement from the school on Friday said: “Unfortunately, we have also been advised by Hampshire County Council that we have a gas leak situation on site this afternoon.
“This has nothing to do with the evacuation that took place today.
“At this time we have been advised, that school must remain closed on Monday 18th November for health and safety reasons.”
The school notified parents and carers on Facebook and their website.
