A care home in New Milton has won a national award for its work to tackle dehydration.
Osborne Lodge Care Home, part of the Vauxian Care Home Group, was honoured with the Infection Prevention & Control Award at the National Nursing Times Awards, held recently.
The home, along with Adamscourt Care Home in Bournemouth, was recognised for its role in a pioneering NHS Dorset and Dorset Integrated Care Partnership project.
This successful initiative will now be implemented nationwide.
Beverly Harris, regional manager of Vauxian Care Home Group said: "We are so proud of both care homes, they are a wonderful team of individuals who dedicate themselves to providing excellent care and a beautiful home life for our residents. We are delighted with this project and look forward to many more innovative projects."
It aimed to prevent infections linked to dehydration, especially in older people, significantly reducing the risk of urinary tract infections and improving overall health.
