Customers on a busy city high street have heaped praise on an “impressive” new cake shop, days after the store’s opening was “much, much busier” than expected.
Cake Box opened on Shirley High Street on November 17, bringing egg- free desserts to the street.
This is the company's third shop in Southampton as the brand already operate in Eastleigh and on East Street in the city centre.
The Daily Echo previously reported that the Halal-friendly shop would be moving into the high street shopfront formerly occupied by William Hill.
Now that the egg-free bakery has opened, Shirley residents have been quick to mention how happy they are to have something new and unique on the high street.

“It’s a pleasant change from coffee shops, nail bars and barbers,” said resident Sarah Penn.
She noted that the variety of cakes on offer will determine how often she uses Cake Box, which is well-known for their fresh cream cakes, waffles and cheesecakes.
A Heysham Road resident, who asked not to be named, said that the store was a “breath of fresh air” on a busy high street.
They added: “It’s always great to have another option and having impressive cakes right in front of the window gives the whole road a good look, I’m really happy to have it.”
Resident Charlotte McCluskie said that she was “very excited” by the shop and that she imagines it will “rescue quite a few busy parents who need to cater for large parties.”
Abhishek Singh is temporarily running the Shirley Cake Box store after being transferred in from Crawley.
The experienced store manager is training staff ahead of the “grand opening” on November 30, and he said that he was caught off guard by how many people came in the first few days.

“We hit our targets for the week straight away,” said Abhishek.
“We weren’t expecting that many people coming into the store and buying slices, it was much, much busier than expected.
“We haven’t had any struggles so far, we just want to let everyone know of the great cakes that we are selling in Shirley.”
Cake Box Shirley is open daily between 10am and 7pm.
