Southampton drivers have shared their test stories after new data showed the main reason why people taking their test in the city fail.
Figures from the DVSA revealed that only 44 per cent of people passed their test at the Maybush centre between April and October 2023.
Maybush driving test centre on Green Lane carried out 7,244 tests in that period.
The data also showed that 10 per cent of fails were caused by a "junctions – observation" serious fault.
This happens when a learner pulls out of a junction or roundabout too quickly, causing other vehicles to slow down.
This fault can also be dished out if the person doing the test does not stop and look at a crossroads, does not check blind spots when joining a dual carriageway or turns right in front of oncoming traffic.

The new figures prompted drivers to share their test stories.
Veronica Smith said: "My son is a good driver, failed him three times now on the most ridiculous excuses on a roundabout, going to another test centre next time."
Jessica Lee said: "I almost passed with a clean sheet until the traffic stopped and a tiny bit of the back of the car was over the exit to a road.
"Even though after a while of sitting there a car managed to full pull out of the road a sit behind me.
"I was so annoyed."
Pete Maidment said: "It’s not the driving examiner that fails you, you do that all by yourself by making said mistakes, simples."
David Tarrant said: "Because their instructors can't drive.
"I see bad instructors every day passing their poor habits onto their students."
As reported by the Daily Echo, a person fails their test if they accumulate 16 minor faults.
Those with P plates in Southampton should not be discouraged if they got the “move off – safely” fault against their name, because almost one in two drivers receive it at Maybush (46 per cent).
This can be caused by learners not checking their blind spots when moving off from a parked position or not completing observations after an emergency stop.
