Christmas is not too far away now, and with the festive season in its early stages, there are several events planned in the Southampton area for it.

Whilst the Christmas market, ice skating rink and Après Bar near the city centre will attract plenty of people, there are some activities outside of that for people to enjoy.

Here is a round-up of all the various Christmas events and activities taking place over the next few weeks.

Christmas 2024 events in the Southampton area

Carlton Place Market

Carlton Place will be running a Christmas edition of their usual market on Saturday, December 14.

Running from 10am to 4pm there will be plenty of the usual stalls alongside live music and Christmas gifts on sale.

Pop-up Christmas Shopping at the Marlands Centre

Marlands Shopping Centre will have a pop-up Christmas market on Thursday, December 12 and Saturday, December 14, running from 9am to 5.30pm.

The Visit Southampton website adds: "From handcrafted treasures to wellness treats and bespoke creations, you’ll find the perfect gift for everyone on your list.

"With new businesses rotating each month, there’s always something fresh and exciting to discover."

Snow Windows Trail

Between Friday, November 29 and Tuesday, December 31 a free Snow Windows trail will be taking place across the city.

Visit Southampton adds: "Follow our North Pole and South Pole routes through the city centre to discover 20 windows, each transformed into a unique, beautifully designed snow scene.

"Unscramble the clue letters to reveal the festive word and take your completed map to the end locations where children can receive a FREE prize."

An Evening of Christmas Crackers at St Mary’s Stadium

St Mary's Stadium will play host to a line-up of talented performers and Christmas music on Thursday, December 19.

The Northam Fan Zone will have stars from London's West End and a full live band take to the stage.

They'll bring "your favourite Christmas classics" to life from "heart warming carols to upbeat holiday hits".

After that, there will be a Christmas party with music and drinks up until 11pm.

Christmas Movie Soundtracks at Royal Victoria Country Park

Royal Victoria Chapel will play host to a live multi-sensory musical experience by candlelight on a couple of dates in December.

Tickets can be purchased on the website here, and will include music from favourites such as Love Actually, Meet Me in St. Louis, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and Home Alone.

If you want to attend, tickets are still available for the 6.30pm session on Saturday, December 21.

The event will last an hour with doors open 45 minutes before the session begins.

Any children in attendance will need to be eight years old or above, and anyone above the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
