An MP has said she is set to secure a meeting with the owner of a block of flats over "shocking conditions".
Southampton Test MP Satvir Kaur visited Compass Point in Maybush, an office block previously owned by Ordnance Survey which was converted into 241 flats under permitted development rights.
No planning permission was needed to make the changes to the propert.
As reported, Southampton Test MP Satvir Kaur said in parliament that residents are living in 'absolute squalor'.
In a statement, Ms Kaur said she was outraged by what she saw - with raw sewage pipes dripping in communal areas, pipes sending water from the roof directly into the basement and wires making the site unsafe.
In the Commons the Leader of the House Lucy Powell agreed with her that renters and leaseholders need more protection.
Now Ms Kaur - former Southampton City Council leader - confirmed to the Daily Echo she is in the process of securing a meeting with Compass Point freeholders BMR Compass Ltd.
Ms Kaur issued a full statement on the issues that she has residents have been trying to raise for months to the Echo.
Ms Kaur said: "I recently visited Compass Point with Redbridge ward councillors.
"I saw and heard first-hand the shocking conditions they’re living and raising their families in.
"Residents have been trying to raise these issues for months but have had no response from BMR, therefore last week I raised the issue in Parliament.
"Lucy Powell agreed that more must be done to protect renters and leaseholders, after hearing the distressing experiences of residents who have been failed by BMR and its contractors.

"The Leader of the House acknowledged the role of permitted development rights in exacerbating poor housing quality under the previous government.
"With the new Labour government, we are committed to tackling rogue landlords and ensuring property mis-selling is no longer tolerated.
"I'm in the process of securing a meeting with BMR to hold them to account for this poor behaviour, and I will continue to advocate for improvements for Compass Point residents and others facing similar challenges."
BMR told the Echo it is committed to making improvements with a new managing agent taking over soon.
