A bid has been lodged to expand the sauna facilities and build an outdoor spa garden at a David Lloyd club.
If granted, the sauna facilities could include an ice cave, hydro pool, Himalayan salt sauna, fire and ice space, and steam room.
David Lloyd in West End has submitted a planning application to Eastleigh Borough Council to expand the sauna area, the car park, and to build an external spa garden.
The application said that after “considerable” requests for a spa garden and facility improvements, the company has decided to press ahead with plans.
If granted, the outdoor spa would be next to the indoor spa, currently part of a poolside terrace at the southern end of the building.
The location of the new spa garden would mean guests can make the most of the sun throughout the day. In the evening, low-intensity light will lighten the area.

The proposal also involves creating 34 new parking spaces.
To achieve this, the plans will need to remove one tennis court, resulting in a total of 268 parking spots being available.
Currently, 33 comments have been made on the planning application.
Among them are the Utilita Bowl, the Hilton Hotel, the Beefy’s Hotel, and the Holiday Inn Express of Botley.
