A handful of people were there when they first played in Southampton two years ago, but this time hundreds of fans came to see a Midlands band who are still to release an album.
Indie four-piece The Clause showed they have the songs to fill a bouncing 75-minute set.
And the years of touring mean frontman Pearce Macca, guitarist Liam Deakin, bassist Jonny Fyffe and drummer Niall Fennel have the confidence to headline The Engine Rooms, a venue more used to hosting bigger acts.

Big tunes such as In My Element, Fake It, Forever Young, Electric and Time of Our Lives were joined by new number Weekend Millionaire.
The group say they look up to independent acts like The Reytons and The Sherlocks, who made things happen for themselves outside of the traditional music industry, and this performance proved the hard work is paying off.
If a promised 2025 debut album is on the cards, expect more success soon.
