In an email to parents, headteacher Lucy Howe said: “Dear parents/carers, we would like to notify you that one of our pupils, whilst walking to school alone this morning, felt she was followed to school by a white van transporting three adult males.
“As a precaution, we have reported her concerns to the police, who are in the process of investigating.
“The child is safe, her family are aware, and we have not received any further reports, concerns or worries from other children, many of whom have also walked to school unattended.
“We wanted to share this information with you so you are informed and to enable you to make alternative arrangements for collection if your child is due to walk home alone this afternoon, should you choose.
“If you do wish to collect your child (who usually walks alone) please notify the school office so we can ensure they are safely dismissed.”
