Bomb disposal experts made an area of the New Forest around luxury hotel Lime Wood safe after an 'unexploded' device was found.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was sent to land off of Beaulieu Road near Lyndhurst at 4.15pm on Monday after reports of the discovery of a discovery of a suspected piece of unexploded ordnance.
Nearby residents said they heard two loud bangs at around 6.30am on Tuesday and army and police vans left the scene at around 11.15am.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "Officers attended and a cordon was put into place as a safety precaution."
The team were working directly outside Lime Wood, in open forest around a mile from the centre of Lyndhurst, but did not block their sweeping drive and it was business as usual at the luxury hotel, home to top spa Herb House and acclaimed restaurant Hartnett, Holder & Co.
