A team of pupils from a Southampton school has been crowned national champions in the Wickes Wellbeing Challenge 2024.
The Year 9 students from Oasis Academy Sholing triumphed at the grand final on November 12 at Wickes’ headquarters in Watford, competing against 13 other schools.
The winning team - Charlotte, Elijah, Elliot, Harriet, and Hannah - crafted a 'Zen Garden' to promote the wellbeing of neurodiverse students at their school.
The garden is intended as a peaceful, sensory-friendly retreat for students who may feel overwhelmed.
Principal Martin Brown said: "I’m so proud of our students. Their creativity, teamwork, and commitment to improving wellbeing in our school are amazing. We can’t wait to see their design come to life!"
The challenge, which started in September, saw participation from more than 2,000 students across 14 UK schools, with Wickes staff providing guidance.
The winning students will receive £2,000 worth of Wickes products to realise their Zen Garden vision.
