AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a man who died after trying to get aid for abdominal pain for 24 months.
Marcus William Campbell, 50, of Brockenhurst, died at Southampton General Hospital on November 16, a court heard.
The inquest into his death was opened at Winchester Coroners' Court on Thursday, November 28, by area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp.
Ms Rhodes-Kemp said that, prior to his death, Mr Campbell had complained of extreme abdominal pain for approximately 24 months, seeking aid from multiple hospitals and doctors without success.
He was admitted to Southampton General Hospital on November 15 with an extended abdomen and elevated white blood count.
Mr Campbell was diagnosed with acute aortic syndrome – he underwent surgery to repair it but he did not recover as planned, dying on November 16.
Ms Rhodes-Kemp gave the preliminary cause of death as acute aortic syndrome and ventricular disfunction.
The inquest has been adjourned to take place in full at Winchester Coroners' Court on June 5 next year.
